Indian Government Taxing the digital economy as an Equalisation Levy The Finance Act 2020 introduced by the Indian Government includes a new Equalisation Levy equal to 2% of the fees received/receivable by an e-commerce operator for online services such as those offered on Freelancer.com.
How does this affect you? Parties whose transactions subject us to this levy will incur an additional charge equal to the amount charged us, to allow us to continue operating in India.
